Bathtime can do this to a person....

A great visit

My favorite picture from my parents' visit to see Noah. He misses his grandparents!

Noah's Mubarekeh (Moo-bar-uh-kay)

We decided to go traditional for Noah's baby shower. In arabic it's called a Mubarekeh and it takes place after the baby is born, usually one to two weeks. It usually happens in the evening and all of the guests bring gifts, although traditionally you don't open the gifts in front of the guests, you wait until after they leave.

There are certain drinks and foods that are served, including a spiced pudding-type dish topped with pistachios and other nuts, chocolates, arabic coffee, and tea. My hostesses included Americans and Arabs so we mixed it up a little and added our favorites like cupcakes, sugar cookies and a fruit tray.

We had a lot of fun at the shower and Noah did great - he basically slept through all the hugging and kissing and being passed from guest to guest. We had about 10 Arab women come and 7 or 8 American women, plus lots of kiddos. Since my mom was there, I took the opportunity to go around the room and share how I knew everyone. Then the ladies took turns telling her what they enjoyed about me or our relationship. It was a very sweet and memorable time.
I am so thankful for all who were there.
We had a Noah's Ark theme with all sorts of animals in two's. These are a pair of elephants made out of baby blankets. The Muslim women are all familiar with the story of Noah which is in the Quran - very similar to the story from the Bible.

2 Week Check-Up

He's a big boy!! We went to Noah's first doctor visit and found out that he had gained 2 pounds in two weeks! He's in the 90th percentile for weight, 75th for height. We love that he's growing so much and love that he's getting a second chin. It looks good on him.
